1. Bien Hoa city
Located on the western part of Dong Nai Province, bordered north by Vinh Cuu District, south by Long Thanh District, east by Thong Nhat District, west by Di An and Tan Uyen Districts of Binh Dong Province, and District 9 of Ho Chi Minh City. It is situated on two sides of Dong Nai River, at 30km from Ho Chi Minh City (along Ha Noi Highway and National Highway 1A), and at 90km from Vung Tau City (along National Highway 51)
Bien Hoa City has 26 administrative units, consisting of 23 wards: Trung Dung, Thanh Binh, Hoa Binh, Tam Hoa, Tan Mai, Tam Hiep, Quang Vinh, Quyet Thang, Binh Da, Tan Tien, Tan Hoa, Ho Nai, Thong Nhat, Tan Buu, Tan Hiep, Buu Hoa, Tan Van, An Binh, Buu Long, Long Binh Tan, Tan Phong, Trang Dai, Long Binh; and 3 villages: Tan Hanh, Hiep Hoa, Hoa An.
Total natural area: 154.73 km2, accounting for 2.64% of the province natural area.
Population (as of December 1999): 477,847 persons (accounting for 23.54% of the province total population, with a density of 3,088 people/km2. Bien Hoa is important for its role and its situation:
It is the political, economic and social center of Dong Nai Province.
It is a grade II urban group, a big city and an important industrial center of the nation.
It is the starting point of important national communication ways (Thong Nhat railway, national Highway 1 and 51).
It is the north-eastern gate, an important part of the Ho Chi Minh City-Bien Hoa- Ba Ria Vung Tau triangle of the southern key economic region.
It is an important economic and social center, hub of varied exchanges within the eastern region of South-VietNam, at the time plays a leading role in the security and national defense of this region.
Economy structure for 2001: Industries and constructions will account for 70.65%; agriculture and forestry 2.25%; and services 27.10%.
In Bien Hoa City, there are 4 industrial zones approved by the Government: Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 1, Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 2, Amata Industrial Zone and Loteco Industrial Zone. They are operating with infrastructures developed synchronously. The face of Bien Hoa City has changed visibly and it is becoming a big city in the southern key industrial zone. |

2. Long Khanh Town
Re-establishing Long Khanh town: Xuan Loc town and 8 villages, Xuan Thanh was renamed Hang Gon village.Location: bordered north by Thong Nhat, Dinh Quan and Xuan Loc districts, south by Cam My district, east by Xuan Loc district and west by Thong Nhat district.
Long Khanh town has 15 administrative units, consisting of 6 wards: Xuan Trung, Xuan Thanh, Xuan An, Xuan Binh, Xuan Hoa, Phu Binh and 9 villages: Bau Tram, Suoi Tre, Bao Vinh, Xuan Tan, Xuan Lap, Bau Sen, Bao Quang, Hang Gon, Binh Loc.
Total natural area: 194,08 km2, accounting for 3,31% of the province total natural area. Population: 130,593 persons, accounting for 6,56% of the province total population, with a density of 673 persons/ km2. By the year 2005, there will be water exploiting stations with the capacity of 10,000 m3/day and night.
Upgrading two transformer stations 110 KV with the capacity of 40 MVA and 63 MVA. Economy structure for 2001: agriculture and forestry accounting for 42.6%; industries-handicraft 18%; and services 38.4%.
Advantages of the District: In 1991 Long Khanh was formed from part of Xuan Loc District. Xuan Loc Town situation is very important from political, economic, social security and national defence points of view for the province and the whole region.
Xuan Loc Town is the communication hub for goods exchanges with Binh Thuan, Lam Dong and Phu Yen Provinces..., condition for trade and services development.
As a mineral resource, there is puzzolan with great reserves, used as an additive substance for the production of cement.
This district has fertile soil for developing the cultivation of industrial trees, fruit trees, high economic value trees for export possibilities: coffee, rambutan, durian...

3. Nhon Trach district
Located in the south-western part of Dong Nai province, formed in 1994 from part of former Long Thanh District, bordered north by Long Thanh District, Districts 2 and 9 of Ho Chi Minh City, south and west by Nha Be District of Ho Chi Minh City, east by Long Thanh District and Tan Thanh District of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
Total natural area: 407.17 km2, accounting for 7% of the province area. Population: 106,976 persons, (as of December 1999), accounting for 5.2% of the province total population, with a density of 261 people/km2 on the average.
The District has 12 villages: Phuoc Thien, Hiep Phuoc, Phu Hoi, Long Tan, Phu Thanh, Đai Phuoc, Phu Huu, Phu §ong, Phuc Khanh, Vinh Thanh, Long Tho and Phuoc An.
Economy structure for 2001: agriculture accounting for 33%; industries-handicraft 36%; services 31%.
Advantages of the District: In Nhon Trach District there are key land and water communication ways of the region; in the future it will be a gate to Ho Chi Minh City so this District has big advantages for developing industries, services and tourism.
It is one of the districts with strong investment attractive potentialities contributing significantly to Dong Nai economic development.
It has a history of fighting traditions with its famous Rung Sat war zone and its forests immerged in sea water , which not only create validity for environment protection, but become an attractive tourist site.
It has sand for construction and land filling for the needs of the district and surrounding areas.
There are 3 industrial zones approved by the Government: Nhon Trach Industrial Zone 1, Nhon Trach Industrial Zone 2 and Nhon Trach Industrial Zone 3. Ong Keo Industrial Zone with an area of 800 ha is being planned. |

4. Dinh Quan district
Located in the northern part of Dong Nai, bordered north-east by Tan Phu district, south-east by Binh Thuan Province, south by Xuan Loc, Long Khanh, and Thong Nhat Districts, west by Vinh Cuu District.
Natural area: 962.9 km2, accounting for 16.43% of the province total natural area. Population (as of December 1999): 202,286 people, accounting for 10% of the province total population, with a density of 210 persons/km2.
It has 14 administrative units consisting of a Town, Dinh Quan, and 13 villages: Thanh Son, Phu Tan, Phu Vinh, Phu Loi, Phu Hoa, Ngoc §inh, Gia Canh, Phu Ngoc, La Nga, Tuc Trung, Phu Tuc, Phu Cuong and Suoi Nho.

The south-eastern part Dinh Quan is crossed by part of Dong Nai river, 32 km long, and part of La Nga river, 46.6km long, favorable for developing waterway for economic exchanges with outside.
Dinh Quan District is situated mid-way on the tourist national road 20 between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat, so it has become a stop-over point for tourists who visit its famous natural sites: La Nga River, Ba Chong Rocks, Ba Giot Falls, Mai Falls...
In the Town center, there are fairly developed services and trade activities, production firms, individual business households, employing non agricultural labour force.
As mineral resources of the District: there are gold, gems, especially building stones on almost the District area, in large reserves ready for industrial exploitation.
Trees: tobacco, coffee, sugar canes, cashew nuts, beans, vegetables and forests are the District main advantages.
Dinh Quan Industrial Zone planned on National Road 20, is for the industrial processing of local agricultural products and the District economic development.

5. Tan Phu district
Located in the northern mountainous area of Dong Nai Province, with its capital town at 100 km from Bien Hoa City and 126 km from Ho Chi Minh City. It is bordered east and north-east by Lam Dong Province, south-east by Binh Thuan Province, north-west by Binh Phuoc Province, south-west by Dinh Quan District and west by Vinh Cuu District.Total natural area:775.87 km2, accounting for 13.24% of the province total natural area.
Population (December 1999): 163,888 people, accounting for 8.07% of the Province population, with a density of 211 persons/km2.
The District has 18 administrative units consisting of a Town, Tan Phu, and 17 villages: Phu Thinh, Phu Binh, Phu Xuan, Phu Son, Phu Loc, Dak Lua, Nam Cat Tien, Phu Dien, Tra Co, Phu Trung, Phu Lam, Ta Lai, Phu Thanh, Phu An, Phu Lap, Thanh Son and Nui Tuong.
Economy structure for 2001: agriculture and forestry accounting for 58%, industries 4%, and services 38%.
Advantages of the District:
Nam Cat Tien reserve forest with an area of 35,000 ha, has received investments to become a national park; forest reserves are significant with rare animals and trees, which attract many domestic and foreign tourists. Here, there are 185 vegetal specimens, 62 kinds of wide animals and 121 bird specimens.
The land used for agriculture and forestry accounts for 80% of the total natural area and provides raw materials for processing industries.
Peat with large reserves is used in industry for the production of fertilizers.
Tan Phu Industrial Zone with an area of 50 ha, is situated on National Road 20, offering many investment incentives. |

6. Long Thanh district
Located in the south-western part of Dong Nai, bordered north by Bien Hoa City and Thong Nhat District, south-east by Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, south-west by Nhon Tr¹ch District and west by Ho Chi Minh City.Total natural area: 558.3 km2, accounting for 9.18% of the Province total natural area.
Population (as of December 1999): 189,642 people, accounting for 9.34% of the Province total population, with a density of 354 persons/km2. It has 19 administrative units comprising a town, Long Thanh and 18 villages: Loc An, Long An, Long Phuoc, Tan Hiep, Phuoc Thai, Phuoc Binh, An Phuoc, Tam Phuoc, Phuoc Tan, An Hoa, Long Hung, Long §uc, Binh Sn, Binh An, Suoi Trau, Cam §uong and Bau Can.
Economy structure for 2001: industries and constructions accounting for 43.4%; agriculture and forestry 29.3%; and services 27.4%.
Advantages of the District:
In the south-west there are part of Dong Nai River, 15 km long and part of Thi Vai River, 13 km long, favorable for the development of waterways.
The main National Highway 51, connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, crosses Long Thanh territory, so this district has the advantage of attracting investment for developing industries, services and tourism.
Long Thanh, located within the southern key economic region, next to big economic and cultural centers of Ho Chi Minh City, Bien Hoa City and Vung Tau city, is very favorable for economic development.
Mineral potentialities, such as clay for the production of tiles and bricks, and sand for construction.
The main cultivated trees of the District are durian, rambutan, longan and custard-apple which are traditional fruit trees.
Go Dau Industrial Zone, approved by the Government, is located on National Highway 51, is easily accessible. In addition, the Province People's Committee has planned An Phuoc Industrial Zone, Tam Phuoc Industrial Zone and An Phuoc brick-tile industrial group. |

7. Vinh Cuu district
Located in the north-western part of Dong Nai Province, bordered north by §ong Phu and Bu Dang Districts of Binh Phuoc Province, south by Bien Hoa city and Thong Nhat District, east by §inh Quan and Thong Nhat Districts, and west by Tan Uyen District of Binh Duong Province.Total natural area: 1,073.18 km2, accounting for 18.30 of the Province total area.
Population (as of December 1999): 100,198 people, accounting for 4.94% of the Province total population, with a density of 93 persons/km2.
The District has 10 administrative units: Vinh An Town, and 9 villages: Tri An, Thien Tan, Binh Hoa, Tan Binh, Tan An, Binh Loi, Thanh Phu, Vinh Tan and Phu Ly.
Economy structure for 2001: industries and construction accounting for 40%; agriculture and forestry 48%; services 12%.
Advantages of the District:
The forested areas measure 65,921 ha and have large precious wood reserves.
Tri An Lake, 28,500 ha (of which 16,500 ha are within Vinh Cuu District) is an abundant water reservoir for agriculture irrigation and aquaculture.
Rich mineral resources: precious metals, raw material for construction, such as sand, stones, keramzite for making light concrete, puzzolan and laterit for making cement.
Famous beautiful and historical sites: Tri An Lake, Base D, fruit tree gardens along the Dong Nai River banks for ecological tours and study visits.
In this District there is Thanh Phu Industrial Zone where 4 enterprises are operating. A vocational group is being planned at Tan Binh village. |

8. Thong Nhat district
Located in the middle of Dong Nai Province, bordered north by Dinh Quan District, east by Long Khanh Town, south by Cam My and Long Thanh Districts and west by Trang Bom District.Total natural area: 247.20 km2, accounting for 4.22% of the Province total natural area.
The district has 10 administrative units, consisting of one town, Dau Giay and villages: Gia Tan 1, Gia Tan 2, Gia Tan 3, Gia Kiem, Quang Trung, Road 25, Hung Loc, Xuan Thien and Xuan Thanh. Population (12/1999): 142,606 persons accounting for 7,17% of the province total population, with a density of 577 persons/ km2.
Economy structure for 2001: agriculture and forestry accounting for 38%; industries and construction 28%; and services 34%.
Advantages of the District:
The climate and the soil are favorable for the growth of fruit trees, short term and long term trees such as soya, tobacco, coffee, rubber trees,...
Meeting conditions for developing technical infrastructure such as electricity, water, communication ways (with the existing National Highway 1 and 20 and the railway) ideal conditions for foreign investments.
Meeting conditions for strong development in 3 fields: agriculture, industries and services.
There are 51 million tons of stone reserves and 20 million tons of puzzolan reserves for making cement, which are abundant raw material for construction.
Ho Nai Industrial Zone and Song May Industrial Zone are approved by the Government, and the Province has planned Bau Xeo Industrial Zone, where 2 enterprises are operating and an industrial group for making bricks and tiles is being planned at Ho Nai 3 village. |

9. Xuan Loc district
Located in the north-eastern part of Dong Nai Province, bordered north by Dinh Quan District - Binh Thuan province, south by Cam My District (new) - Dong Nai province and Xuyen Moc - Ba Ria, Vung Tau province, east by Ham Tan and Tanh Linh Districts - Binh Thuan province, west by Long Khanh Town.
Total natural area: 726,79 km2, accounting for 12,40% of the province total natural area.
Population: 194,965 persons, accounting for 9,80% of the province total population, with a density of 268 persons/km2. The district has one town, Gia Ray and 14 villages: Xuan Hoa, Xuan Hung, Xuan Tam, Xuan Truong, Xuan Thanh, Xuan Hiep, Xuan Dinh, Xuan Phu, Xuan Tho, Xuan Bac, Suoi Cao, Suoi Cat, Bao Hoa, Lang Minh.
Economy structure for 2001: agriculture and forestry accounting for 64.9%; industries and constructions 15.9%; and services 19.2%.
Advantages of the District:
Agricultural land accounting for 69.1% of the District natural area, agriculture is the main economy branch. The agricultural area is increasing incessantly due to expansion of areas, exploitation of uncultivated land and re-exploitation of abandoned land.
Advantages of natural characteristics are an important factor in the orientation of development of long and short life trees, and food trees, such as rubber trees, coffee, fruit trees, cashew nuts, maize, cotton, beans and water paddy.
As mineral resources: there are mines of granite on Le Mountain for making floor and wall tiles with a reserve of 12 million m3; and magma scattered on hills can be exploited for making building materials.

10. Trang Bom district
Location: bordered north by Vinh Cuu district, south by Long Thanh district, east by Thong Nhat, and west by Bien Hoa city.
Total natural area: 326,12 km2, accounting for 5,56% of the province total natural area.
The district has one town, Trang Bom and villages: Ho Nai 3, Bac Son, Binh Minh, Quang Tien, Song Trau, Tay Hoa, Dong Hoa, Trung Hoa, Hung Thinh, Song Thao, Bau Ham, Giang Dien, An Vien, Cay Gao, Doi 61, Thanh Binh. Population: 177,407 persons, accounting for 8,92% of the province total population, with a density of 544 persons/ km2
Advantages of the district: Belonging to the Southern key economic, favourable for economic exchanges with regions.
Agriculture has been developed, especially the processing of agro-products; many kinds of trees have been developed such as: coffee, cashew, pepper, banana, cassava-root, ....
The district has 3 industrial zones: Ho Nai Industrial Zone, Song May Industrial Zone and Bau Xeo Industrial Zone , ten thousands of labourers have jobs.
Industries – handicraft: Many units producing agricultural tools and agro-products processing have met the demand of local agricultural production.
This district has a network of convenient roads, creating favourable conditions for goods exchange with other provinces. Most of villages along the national road have built markets, business, trade and services have also been developed.

11. Cam My district
Location: bordered north by Long Khanh town, south by Chau Duc district – Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, east by Xuan Loc district, and west by Long Thanh, Thong Nhat districts. Total natural area: 467,96 km2, accounting for 7,98% of the province total natural area.
The district has one town, Long Giao and villages: Xuan Que, Song Nhan, Xuan Duong, Thua Duc, Nhan Nghia, Xuan My, Bao Binh, Xuan Dong, Xuan Tay, Song Ray, Lam San, Xuan Bao, Long Giao. Population: 146,572 persons, accounting for 7,37% of the province total population, with a density of 313 persons/ km2.
Advantages of the district: There are three rubber plantations: Xuan Que, Cam Duong, Cam My and two processing factories, creating jobs for ten thousands of labourers. Units producing agricultural tools and agro-products processing have met the demand of production.
The climate and the soil are favourable for developing the cultivation and processing of agro-products: coffee, pepper, cashew, cassava-root...
This district has a network of convenient roads, creating favourable conditions for goods exchange with other provinces. Most of villages along the national road have built markets, business, trade and services have also been developed.
